LAWRENCE AND MARY A LOVE STORY

About 20 years after my Mother passed in 2003 my brother came upon this Scrapbook that my Father kept for his SweetHeart Mary while in the Navy serving on ships far from the shores of Boston, MA. Since then we have retrieved a few more and together they weave a love story that seems so far removed from this fast moving technical world we live in.
My Mother loved to dance and she found what turned out to be her life partner at the USO dance at Charlestown Navy Yard, Charlestown, MA in 1922. We knew my Mom had been a writer, first published at 16 years of age in the Boston Post but, I had no idea my Dad was a wordsmith and raconteur as well.
My parents having had 9 children over 20years were still the light of each other's eye 35 years after my Dad started this Scrapbook for Mary, when he passed away in 1959.
Benny & Sarah were terms of endearment they had for each other and they always signed their cards to each other this way for Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmas etc. They gleaned these names from a play they saw as young marrieds, relating to the couple in love on the stage. As a child I anticipated each card they received from each other with delight and cherish them still today. And so I use these names to title their story of a young couple in love.
